So as some of you may know, I shaved my head in January because of a few reasons.
1. Yes, I am a feminist and I think social norms can be lame.
2. it would be freeing (and it so was)
3. CMV medication and stress made it start to fall out. I wanted to beat it to the punch line.

It is now growing back curly and a bit darker!! If I go in the water and don't brush it right when I get out, it turns into this 'fro. I think this is because I switched from Prograf to cyclosporine.
Steve was in the Bahamas for 2 weeks for work and I was alone with final papers and exams. One left today. woohoo.

Audre Lord - A Litany For Survival Apr. 5th, 2007 @ 04:30 pm
"A Litany For Survival"

For those of us who live at the shoreline
standing upon the constant edges of decision
crucial and alone
for those of us who cannot indulge
the passing dreams of choice
who love in doorways coming and going
in the hours between dawns
looking inward and outward
at once before and after
seeking a now that can breed
futures
like bread in our children's mouths
so their dreams will not reflect the death of ours;

For those of us
who were imprinted with fear
like a faint line in the center of our foreheads
learning to be afraid with our mother's milk
for by this weapon
this illusion of some safety to be found
the heavy-footed hoped to silence us
For all of us
this instant and this triumph
We were never meant to survive.

And when the sun rises we are afraid
it might not remain
when the sun sets we are afraid
it might not rise in the morning
when our stomachs are full we are afraid
of indigestion
when our stomachs are empty we are afraid
we may never eat again
when we are loved we are afraid
love will vanish
when we are alone we are afraid
love will never return
and when we speak we are afraid
our words will not be heard
nor welcomed
but when we are silent
we are still afraid

So it is better to speak
remembering
we were never meant to survive.

Wow, it has been a long time since I updated. It is almost Christmas and I just need to get a few stocking stuffers for a certain someone. I hate the MALLLLLLLL, especially around this time. ESPECIALLY since they are all Germ carrying, coughing, pushy people. I got Steve something very hot for Christmas... veryyy hahaha. Although I am looking forward to this weekend, I am also dreading it. We have about 7 parties to go to in 3 days.
Oh yes, I am engaged. Steve sent me on a scavenger hunt all over town... to the location of our first date, first kiss etc..
I finally ended up at DaDa, where we first met and he was sitting in the spot that I first saw him (again). He asked me my name and then told me his name was Marvin (which happened the first night we met) and I said no it wasn't. He then said "Oh yea? I have an I.D. to prove it" and he reached in his pocket and got down on one knee. It was very sweet. Sean brought us some champagne and split the cork with silver for luck. My ring is beautifullllll...it is a platinum estate ring with a new diamond. Ok enough of that barf.

This is to a certain someone.. why didnt you write me back, or even call?
I am hungry. I am Happyyy.

Bye.

Ok... So I havent written in lord knows how long but, here it goes. I am back home. Woohoo yipee... sorta. It is very strange to be back at home. I got attached to North Carolina and the friends and routine I had up there. I didn't hear from a lot of my friends while I was up there (and yes i was let down) and now I don't know how we are going to relate. I'm sure with time I will fall back into the groove, but right now I feel a little bitter. Fuck you and you and you and you. There, just had to get that out. I'm not going to name names as to who I heard from and who I didn't...they know it. I don't know what I would have done without Steve. That may sound lame, but it's true.
These days I am going to the YMCA everyday. Going on the eliptical, doing some weights and taking yoga classes.
Steve got me a new baby blue Townie bike for my birthday. We used to ride it on the hills and trails in our neighborhood in Durham, so now A1A is a piece of cake. Well, I guess that is it for now. If anyone is by the Imperial House next to Lantana beach, stop by!

went to dada tonight ate some so-so food. watched steve and teh modern cons play a few songs. watched eric get loaded with some schlitz memorablia...i dont think he knew what he signed himself up for.
im sure you all wanted to know what i did this weekend.
so we are leaving sunday for durham. i am going to miss everyone. it is exciting and scary.

carries me up flights of stairs when i am tired or sick
he is moving to a cold, cold place far away from everyone with me

reikis me
makes me laugh till i pee
makes me feel ooo ahhhh yes, special
» Where is scooby doo and the mystery bus?
Oh how I love a good mystery... a christmas mystery is even better. I got a card in the mail yesterday with no return address and a check for 150 dollars. It was an official check, so it doesnt have an account name or number or anything. Hmmm who could it be?
On another note... It's Christmas eve!!! Neither of us are Christian, but we still go all out on xmas. So many places to go, people to see, presents to wrap.
I got awesome presents from my voodoo girls! Jenny got me a VOODOO t-shirt that she had made for each of us...I recieved lots of other neat gifts, but i must go get ready for the Gundlachs christmas party.

haha... and no i did not take it till it came up with that.
so steve is out of town till wednesday... i think i am going to put up some xmas/hanukah decorations. I got these cool simpsons christmas crackers on ebay. what is a cracker you may ask? well, it is a british xmas tradition that you break open with a little toy, a joke, and a hat that you wear. I'm trying to be multi-cultural here... and simpsons!
I have most of my christmas shopping done.. jealous? bwahaha!! This is the first time ever it has not been a mad dash the week before, but I just want to enjoy the Holiday (haha). All that is left is jenny, gillian, and steve-o's big gift.

The Red Lion was fun... thank you alllll for coming... It was soo good to see all of you. I know you were disapointed jenny that there was no proposal, but i tell you I am proposing to John Koponen one of these days... so you will just have to wait for that lovely event. Kristine Koponen... has a nice ring to it.
well that is all for now... i am going to finish my book America's Women. If you are at all into the feminist movement or just the history of women in America and what they have had to endure, it is a great book.

Turkey day was a success... It was mighty busy, but it was great. First, we ate with my mum, daddy, and kimo. Then, we went to steve's aunt and uncle's in Jupiter. And thennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn we stopped by mandy's parents house in Jupiter Farms. Wow i havent seen those folks in forever... it was so good to see them and get me some grasshopper pie! Needless to say, we were very pooped at the end of the day and STUFFED!
Soooo tonight is the shindig at the Redlion... it is going to be hot. My parents are even going lol. all of you hobbits better be there! 10 o'clock!!!

I was just dragged out of bed by this incessant knocking on my door. Thinking it was the plumber, I was annoyed because I thought I already told him it was ok. But nooooo...it was a COP!! He said he recieved a call that there was some screaming coming out of this apartment at around 3 am last night. Hmmmm, well at 3 am we were asleep. It could have been people down on the beach screaming or if it was a little earlier, maybe I know what the screaming was hehe ;)
A welfare call to make sure I was alive and not hurt...that's a first!
Now I'm up and going to go eat blueberry pancakes from the Dunedeck... yummm.
Oh yess... last night I spoke on Miss Jenny Koponen's video for class in which we were all asked "what is love?"
What is love? Any ideas? Even you voodoos from last!
Ahh and don't forget the Billy Boloby show the day after Turkey day at the Red Lion...I say it now cause i'll probably forget to make another entry.

what crappy news to wake up to. I think ill be moving to canada or cali. I need to live in a democratic state! On top of Kerry losing, I'm worried that all of the first time voters and people who usually blow off voting will become disenfranchised. Let's hope not.
Well, on a happier note... steve and I are leaving for the Keys tomorrow morning. We got a place right near the 7 mile bridge on marathon and a BOAT! That should be fun... we are going to do some fisssshing... try to forget about all the BS going on.

Moonfest was fun... there was great people watching to be done. It seemed to be an excuse for girls to come out in their underwear, but maybe that's the feminist in me talking. Billy Boloby was excellente. When I first got there, I was getting the stare down from some white fairy girl who was also staring at steve. I said to him "dont look now but there is this...." and he goes "white fairy"? I guess she had tapped him with her wand and told him she thought he was cute etc. and he said i think you should know I have a girlfriend. Aghh i dont mind you thinking my boyfriend is cute, but when you start staring me down and giving me dirty looks, that is when we have a problem. Dumb young PBA girl. ANNNND Steve's ex gf was there dressed at a rubber ducky or Big Bird ... haha i don't know which . Let's just say it was an interesting night.
But yes i shall repeat again, I have the BESSSSSSSSst boyfriend ever... how did i get so lucky?

I miss hawaii.
